What's your plan for this? I'd look for a new trailer straight away... You have a lot of boat hanging off the end and it can cause a hook in the hull...

Yup, the trailer looks a little short. Not sure how long it has been sitting on it, but I suspect it has been a long time. Hull looks pretty straight along the bottom.

    The plan is...

Start scrubbing all the oxidation off, because I know there is a nice shiny gel coat under there somewhere. The outer hull is really scratched up. Previous owner/s obviously did not care about the boat at all. Cleaning up the outer hull will likely take months, it is a real mess.

The motor is pretty much bone stock and was 3 quarts low on oil when we first checked. It runs pretty well, but i suspect there is a rebuild coming down the road. We'll do a compression & leakdown test and then plan accordingly.

Windshield is cracked, hunting down a new one could be a challenge.

Basic plan is to keep it simple and restore her to good quality running condition. She will never be a race boat, nor do we expect that.

This boat will likely be in our family for a very long time. I have two sons, 17 & 20. It will be a family restoration project for all three of us...

That is a pic of my dads boat with me driving. My younger brother took the pic from my older brothers boat.

Re: '78 Wriedt Spoiler 19 Jet

Love the pictures of the '73 Spoiler.
We had our '78 in the water a few weekends ago. Runs pretty good, but appears to have a bit of an exhaust leak. New Manifold gaskets will be going on Labor Day weekend.
I am also going to look at a longer trailer tomorrow evening. The current trailer is 18ft with roller carriages extending another foot off the back. The boat is fully supported, but I think it will fit better on a longer trailer. New prospect is a 20' tandem axle trailer. Looks nice.
I have been polishing like crazy, but have concluded a good wet sanding is in order. Way too much neglect over the past 35 years.
    I'll keep the updates coming...
