Thread: dizzy tip

    dizzy tip

    as a few of you have been following i have been trouble shooting a few issues..so heres what i did,new fuel filters,canister and inline....oil change,plug change,air filter,and completely went through carb and still had issues...got it running but it was missing and stumbling then just died..called a buddy of mine and he said un hook the tack side of the hei disributor and then fire it up.walla problem fixed.tack plug to my dizzy was causing me major headache i don't know if it is in the wire or the dizzy yet but damn who would have thought .

    That little crap will drive you crazy, had a loose wire on my amp gauge and ever so often the boat wouldn't start then later it would. Was glad to find that problem. Thank goodness for smart buddies huh?

    i'm going to say its the tach if the engine is running fine or the wire running up to the tach. being a mercruiser mechanic for 20+ years we where trained when there is a ignition problem first thing is to take off the tach wire on the coil.
