Nice boat.....![]()
This was the 1st Belmont hull built in Hartford WI by Jim Kidd. All prior Belmont's were built in Fresno CA.
The boat was custom built for H. Harmlink with a 1" thicker hull to ensure durability at 100 mph plus under the power of a Gale Banks 500 hp plus Twin turbo.
I bought the boat in 1981 with a stock Hardin Marine 460/320 hp from H. Harmlink who purchased Belmont Boats from Jim. The boat survived a barn fire that year before the engine swap with minor gel coat damage.
The Hardin Marine stock 460 was changed out in 1992 after finding the oil pan rusting through from the outside. Lucky for me, a friend of mine T. Fletcher had bought out the excess inventory of engines at Chrysler Marine when they closed which included several 460 Ford dyno engines. The Chrysler branded 460 Fords were rated @ 340 hp with Rochester Quadrajet carbs and Chrysler electronic ignitions.
The boat runs great today

Heavy Lake Lay Up Family Boat Ready To Race Any Takers
The Gale banks set-up was in this boat 30 years ago. The price would have been double with it, and in my 20's there was know way, so it was a stock engine or no boat!!
So were running a 460 @ 340 hp today, and for the last 20 years!
Hello Bigwave, I have some more info about your Belmont if you would ever want to know. I was the first owner of the very first Belmont outboard ever made by Mr Kidd in Hartford and my Family was very close friends to Mr H as you call him. I have a couple of pics of your boat when it was in the 4th of July Parade in Allenton Wi with myself and Mr. H's son back in 1978? Anyway if you need more info just let me know.
Go ahead and fill us in Concord. We love the history on these old boats!!!!!!!!!

Very interesting info on the Belmont Brand! A few members here own Belmont Jets, and one has an Original 1959 (i believe) V-Drive Belmont Race Boat, still in Original condition!
It's Impossible to Lose Your Footing, If Your On Your Knees"
Thanks guy's I will fill you in a little more about it I hope Bigwave doesn't get angry. The boat was indeed owned by Mr. H as he is called but if memory serves me correct the hull was done before it arrived in Hartford Wi the finishing gel coat, interior engine and so forth was finished there in Hartford. The boat originally had a 429 ford in it along with a Berkley pump and jetavator. Mr. H did buy Belmont boats from Jim Kidd and I think that was in 1977. It was moved to Slinger Wi and he and his wife Mrs. S turned out some very cool jet boats and even at least 1 Stern drive that ended up on Big Cedar Lake. I have many fond memories of big waves blue jet (like almost getting thrown off Big Cedar lake!) and boating with Mr H's Family over the years!
Oh and just in case you were wondering about the outboard that was built for our family, Here it is.![]()
