What RPM range should you build your engine

I'm looking to rebuild this Ford 460 (don't believe its run since 2001). Will find out this weekend if its rusted through.
But if its okay to rebuild what range rpm would be ideal to shoot for when selecting part$$ for it?

Your hull will handle whatever power you can afford to throw at it so build for what your intended use of the boat will be. Glad your having fun on this project!

it really depends on desired horsepower, intended usage and application, budget, etc. Most people these days are turning to larger displacement stroker engines and turning them slower while using larger impellers, but if 500 hp or less is what you want then there are far less expensive ways to make 500 hp while using mostly factory 460 parts.

I’d suggest right about as high as to the point where she blows up...then back off it 300 RPM!!!
