    nice score on your Aristocrat. cool project with great looking body lines and the fact that you have the engine cover takes her over the top..

    if you do Facebook you can go to the Sleek Craft boat owners site for info.

    Re: 1980 Sleekcraft project update

    Still working on the Sleekcraft
    (seems like when I've the money to get materials I've no time, and when I
    have time have no money)

    Ski Pylon:
    Dug out the rotten wood, and filled the cavity with a solid block of Poplar wood,
    glassed it in and filled the area around with epoxy with fillers and chopped glass.
    Than used Total Boat Faring compound to far out the area.
    Test fitted the ski pylon and though it came out okay.
    (replace the rusted out bolt with a grade 8 bolt)

    Stress cracks:
    There were several areas on the boat with cracks. I took the die grinder with a small tip
    and channeled out the cracks and filled them with an epoxy mix with fillers, sanded down and
    used faring compound to finish out the repairs.

    Gas tanks;
    Pulled out the gas tanks, they were covered in carpet and epoxy.
    Under them was 20+ years of rat turds.

    Cleaned them up, and the insides look great. filled them with water and they didn't leak

    Planning on moving them back a little in the boat so I'm filling in the old gas tank filler holes
    and will be drilling new holes. There were a few stress cracks around one of the holes so I
    channeled them out and filled them with epoxy and I'm faring them now.

    Engine cover;
    Replace all the rotted plywood with solid Poplar wood, I used what was left of the old plywood for a template.
    I added some extra wood along the inside to stiffen up the cover. As I noticed that I flexed a little. I also though
    it would add structural support for the corners (they were kind of dinged up)
    Filled all the rivet holes with an epoxy mix.
    I'll need to replace the weather stripping
    (if anyone knows where to get some please let me know)
