It doesn't really matter whether you win or lose...

That’s what I was thinking. It’s listed on Craigslist stating it has been rebuilt. What should I look for if he gets back with me and I can take a look?

I did a total rebuild of mine. Look at the shaft condition in the packing area. Check out the bearing and ask when it was replaced. The tail bushings and seals should also be checked. I am also wondering where the intake (bottom) portion is?
How’s the impeller and wear ring? Other than that there isn’t much else other than obvious visible damage.

You can see the leading edge of the pump vanes by removing the inspection port plug on the top. If an inducer was installed that will be evident too. Clean off and examine the input drive splines (are they worn? twisted - a sign its been pushed hard and needs parts) But really without some disassembly its hard to see shaft wear, bowl vane erosion etc.

From the pic it looks like a nice clean stock unit. Be nice to have the suction housing, as grate and fins can take a beating being exposed to rocks and sand etc.
