    Hi ram intake on 460

Have a chance to install a single carb hi rise intake on my mild build 460. Itís basicly a tunnel ram. Will I gain much by installing it or better to stick with the edelbrock performer?

By it self I don't think you will notice any seat in the pants improvement switching to a high rise intake. You need a total package, cam, heads, carb all working together. But I've been wrong, once, in the past.

I’m installing flat top pistons with a mild cam. Porting heads also. But I’m also installing an hei distributor so the two may not work together cause hei is bigger around and might hit the intake.

What is the rpm range of your cam? The high rise intake is 3500 to 8500 rpms. You will need a full race engine huild and a small impeller to spin those numbers.

I’ll just stick with my edelbrock performer intake. The most I want to spin 4500 to 5000.

If you can "try before you buy" I think the tunnel ram will out perform the Performer at 4,500-5,000 RPM. Jet boats don't need the off-idle torque to get moving like a car does so a "top end" manifold works great w/o affecting low speed.

Yes you will need a small diameter msd distributor to clear the intake. If you're still interested in upgrading your intake, check the reviews for the weiand stealth intake. Its what I'm running on my 545 ford

Typically a single carb high rise will have not optimal fuel distribution.
