    Sleekcraft aristocrat

im looking at getting into the jet boat world and i am looking at a 78 aristocrat. it will be needing work which im to worried about but i had a few questions these boats. Is there anything i need to look out for with them? Also why do all these boats have big blocks and not small blocks?

    thanks

    I’ll say it first.
    ”There’s no replacement for displacement”
Jets require a lot of torque at all speeds. That being said a properly built small block would work just fine.

i used to be all about that until i found the small diesels with good turbos. that is what i figured it was for the torque from the big blocks but wasnt sure.

The only thing to especially look out for is the standard stuff for any old boat. The Aristocrat was a winner in ride + performance + looks! Is yours a v-hull or the tunnel hull model (sometimes called SST)? Good score!

I got the boat on tuesday. I will try and post some pictures up on it. the floor seems mostly solid but under where the seats mount the fiberglass was cracked and the wood was water damaged. So im thinking im going to replace the whole floor but other than that it looks in good shape. I picked it up for 450 with out a motor? Does that seem like a fair price?

also is there any reason i cannot run a seat like a kirkey low back seat with floor mount brackets? or should i stay with a boat seat?

the diesel comment was about the on road stuff i would love to put one in this boat but i dont think im ready to get involved in a swap like that right now. I really just want to get it in the water.
