5 months later... Getting closer! Since the floors are foam we decided that trying to screw the throttle and diverter handle directly into them would last about 3 seconds. I hated to do it but marine plywood was shaped, carefully trial fit for comfortable location and then glassed in with a combination of Nytex and 1.5oz mat. Here's how she sits now, just about ready for new gel coat in the interior.

I don't know why the forum flipped the pic sideways :(

Next up we're going to prep and paint the exterior in white gloss AwlGrip. We're also going to glass in a removable foot board so passengers don't go flying up into the bow. Once that's done the interior will get a smoked white gel goat. Hoping to get all of this done in the next few weeks. Once the paint and body are done I think the rest should fall together pretty quickly. I hope!

I've been slacking off a little on the boat but have managed to do a few other things. I assembled the main jet housing and trial fit it and the engine.

Also looks like I need a new drive line. This one is a shorty that bolts directly to the flywheel / crank without a PTO. The slip yoke is rusty and will eat the seal in no time. I like that it's short and gives a little extra room in front of the engine but my understanding is that this style of shaft isn't available anymore. If it broke I'd have to relocate the engine forward to use a longer shaft. Not sure I want to build an interior around an obsolete shaft... actually pretty sure I don't... LOL! The engine isn't actually bolted in yet so shaft length isn't set in stone.

So now I need to identify what I have in all the spare parts laying around. I have a PTO, just no shaft to bolt to it. Anyone have one with these dimensions they'd like to part with? Pic is kind of hard to read... it's 2.88" x 2.41". I've read it should be 2.875 x 2.8750. Hard to believe I measured .034" off... guess I shouldn't drink and measure. Worst case I'll drop the $329 at JBP but I'm trying to stay on somewhat of a budget.
Good used is good enough for me!

A bit more progress, couple hours at a time...

After looking at the bilge area and how it's open to the area under the seat, we thought that could be a recipe for oily water to make it's way into the main seating area. We added a couple of pieces to enclose the bilge and create a small storage area under the rear seats. Some drainage tubes will be added later...

While poking around under the bow deck preparing the area for gel coat we decided the scraggly piece of scrap wood the factory partially glassed in as a deck support was not sufficient to keep the deck from cracking when the inevitable person jumps up on it. A brace was made and attached to the original support.

That's when we found the original brace was about 2" off center. About right for a Tahiti since nothing else is symmetrical on this thing. We designed a removable foot rest to hide the offset brace and make everything look symmetrical under there. The foot rest will also double as a CRD (Crap Retention Device) to keep things under the bow in place. The foam core board was covered in Nytex and 1.5oz mat on

Hoping to get the paint taken care of this month. 1000 little details to button up but at least I can work on it myself once the paint is done. I'm useless at glass/paint work LOL!
