One thing that bothered me for years now, was the rattle in my loose steering column. I finally picked up a simple harmonic balancer puller to get the collar off the shaft so I could find out where the slop was... Turns out the (two piece?) yellow plastic part did not fit tightly any longer (did originally?) There is some kind of metal keeper at the bottom, but it needed to be shimmed. A chunk of stainless hose clamp was a perfect fit. Glue in place with RTV and that rattle can kiss my arse. Snug as a bug... :drv:

Wow, she’s a real beauty!!! Here is what SAE has to say on this: Flame arrestor makers are allowed to display an Underwriter's Laboratories number or an SAE number now instead of a USCG number.SAE J-1928/UL 1111. The gauze or K&N styles are NOT flame/fire proof. They do meet the specs to ‘contain’ a back fire, BUT...they will smolder afterwards. And once you end up tossing it into the drink, you cannot use that again because they are wet and wont flow air. Then you reallly get busted for not having one on. The Laws for CA are NOT the same, aside to opinions. CA requires you to have 2 EGR devices per unit. AZ will possibly impound the vessel in question, depending on how many “courage drinks” you’ve consumed and your personal ability to keep your mouth in ‘Nuetral’....:blahblah: while in discussion. The Fish cops in all 50 states are getting stupid strict due to the “Left Wingers” crying foul at every turn. In all fairness, it is the laws we all must follow, in order to keep our sport from even more over regulation. So, let’s all play nice and follow the guidelines. I do not like or agree with some of these idiotic either, but I’d rather comply, then sit on the couch..Something to ponder while polishing up the float?

That is a Morse Control. If they can be bought new I don't know? Morse is the brand name and was used on right hand steer boats back in the day.

For my Harden 10qt I put in 8 and 1 for the filter. My engine builder originally put 9 and 1 and it was too much! Made a new notch on the dip stick to kno where she is happy.

Well this trip is coming up fast. I think the little purple Cheetah, is ready to check out Shasta Lake. Finished the break in oil change and valve adjustment, also added an oil cooler, to the remote filter setup. Got a pair of Basset corkscrew baffles, to tame the little girls big mouth. Anyone have a loader for a WJ?

Interesting thing about the Armando, and Milodon 10 qt. as well. It only takes 6 quarts or so, for the level to be, the same height as the windage tray. big filter, is another quart, big filter on a remote filter 1 1/2 to 2 quarts, remote oil cooler, remote large filter, up to 3 qts. I have the Milodon, remote filter and cooler, and dipstick shows good with 10 quarts.

we have quite a few members with SWTD's or other tunnel hulls. In my experience, most of the tunnel hulls like to go straight, they are a little different when turning, they stay flat on the water, as opposed to leaning, like a v-hull. I would also look for play in the steering.

Thanks, I enjoy damn near anything fast. bikes, cars, boats. Being a mechanic, i've known nothing but, this is my life. Used to build street cars in the early 70s in Southern California, Van Nuys Blvd. on Wednesday nights. Friday and Saturday nights raced the beach from Manhattan down to Redondo Beach.we used to ride our bikes up past Pepperdine University to the rock store. raced Mulholland, Topanga Canyon. long before all the things you see on the Internet now, we were doing back in the 70s. Didn't have as nice of bikes as they do now days, but it sure as hell didn't stop us from having fun. It would appear were kindred spirits and the rest of your group. Thanks again for extending the invitation to a like-minded idiot.
