Hawaiian Boats, the HBG above, first shop was one the old Tahiti buildings in Bellflower at 8832 Ramona. I 'think' Schuster still owned the buildings at the time? At any rate the buildings are still there and Competitive trailers has been there for decades. Next we used, for a very short time and now that I think about it at the same time as we also used the Bellflower shop, a building in Anaheim Ca right off the 5 freeway which would later become the shop for Hardin's 'Carribean and Tahiti' (when they bought out Tahiti) but I'll be damned if I can remember the address. Then we settled in at the shop on Container Ln. in Huntington Beach, Ca. We had 2 buildings across the street from one another, one for glass the other for rigging and detailing. Working there was the most fun I had in the boat biz and we couldn't build boats fast enough to keep the dealers stocked and the walk-in buyers happy. It was the rocking' 70's and there were more guys building boats than you can imagine today, it was crazy. We even had a dealer that advertised on local TV, "Hunter Boat Sales", and I can remember thinking who would ever finance a boat for 10 years! lol
I don't know anything about Hawaiian after it closed in late '79 or early '80, I landed a job With Roger Weiman. Times were VERY tough then for the boat biz, within a year most of the shops that were thriving just a few years before were gone.
