It appears as though Challenger made jet boats in just 1976 & 1977 - We have a few pictured below and can always use more...
The search for Challenger came back with a lot of results, can you help to narrow it down?

I know it's an old thread but thought I would up date it with what I know. Challenger with this style hull were built in Montclair California from 1970 or 71 until 1980. The company was owned by a Mathew Goldie. HIN starts with CHE, this manufacturer code was given to a different builder Chesapeake Boats I believe after Challenger closed up. The last three digits of the HIN are the month made and the year model just like most other boats of the era. Challenger called this hull an 18 1/2 foot Semi V hull, the hull bottom just like most other boats this size was dirived from the original Esquire hull and the same hull several builders splashed including Southwind. The topside is also very similar to most boats one pretty unique feature of the Challenger is the raised gunnel all the way around the too side including across the transom area. Very few of the early ones were full stringer boats however most all of them are 1/4 stringer boats. They were a heavy lay up boat the hull alone is 1000 pounds. They were built with all three of the big block engines, 460, 454, and a few with the 455 engines and their parts were Harman Marine. They used several different pumps Berkeley, Jacuzzi, in the early and mid years and dominator in the late years. Early hulls did not have the stripe down the middle of the deck and only had 4 gauges in the dash in 76 a 5th gauge was added, I believe the fuel gauge. The interior stayed the same with the high back front seats and two facing seats in the rear until late 1978 when a few boats that year got the new interior with stand alone driver and passenger seats and a forward facing rear bench seat they all came with diamond tuck vinal I have only seen brown and blue original interior color but there could have been others prior to the change in 78. The new style interior changed to a tuffted pillow look. The new interior also had upholstery under the dash area as well as upholsterd kick pannels. All the hulls saw the same gel coat scheme in several different color combos. The trailers were manufactured by Giroux in the early years there were a few single axle trailers but most all came on a tandem axle trailer. The trailer color always matched the secondary color of the gel coat. Anyways that is what I have been able to gather surfing the net and studying pictures for several years. I have owned two of these that were both 100 percent original a 1976 that was stored for over 30 years untouched and a 1977 that was also all original because my dad bought in new lol. I have yet to speak with anyone that actually layed up or rigged these boats originally after extensively searching it's like they all disappeared IDK alien abduction?

Very cool, I have a Ď77 Challenger all stock in excellent condition, was my fathers and he purchased new from Belmont Boats in Fresno. Hasnít seen the water in a few years, thinking of caressing her back.
