Well I always carry a spare tire/wheel for my old Roadrunner Jet Boat Trailer. But I don't like the Typical places people mount them at. At some lakes (like CFW) we shore launch, so you need a little ground clearance. The Side mounts on the frame, near the bow, seemed to easy to hit with the boat. So, I decided to modify the triangle, at the front of the trailer. I removed the original angle iron cross member, and installed 2 new pieces of channel, and welded an expanded steel bottom in it. Since this moved my bow support back 4 inches, I had to modify it as well, along with the bow stop! Here's some pictures.

Then I made a new mount for the bow support and a new Bow Stop Strap! Now I don't have to throw my spare in the truck any more!

nice job on your trailer Steve looks great.
when I redone the brendella trailer I also added a spare. I opened up the tongue and dropped it into the deck. it can be taken out the top or dropped out the bottom.

That looks good Roger! That's kind of what I was originally going for, but the channel width is only 4 inches. I did make a 1" depression in the expanded for the spare though. Amazing how persuasive a small 5 pound hammer is!
