Since my 78 Tahiti Super Cruiser, is a mini day cruiser. And the girls don't really like big, hot loud engines withing ez reach. I decided to build a motor cover. All I have left to do is pad, and cover it!

Better keep that away from Jason. You know how he is with a chainsaw and an engine cover.

Steve why 1 peace and not two peaces so the top would lift up in case you need to get in there fast or are you going to put hinges in the front so that the hole thing would lift forwards

I thought you already had an engine cover??? Maybe Wolfie is on to something... Jason get to the old one? Maybe while he was denying his wife the right to education?

Looks good btw...

It hinges in front, with removable pins Like the old one did. I needed to make the cover a little differently so it would clear this exhaust system. Besides, this new on is is about 1/4 the weight of the original version I made. and the small belt cover version, that's on it now, still uses the same hinges. Just in case I want to show off the polished stuff! Belt cover with the old logs. Belt cover with the upswept exhaust, the old full cover,

ok, the shell is finished. I have made a border of 1x's to staple the vinyl to. I have bought the marine vinyl and padding. I just need some that can sew me up the slip cover, so I can staple it on! Looks to me like 4 seams is all I need sewn together, and I even have the old vinyl as a template!

No diamond stitch though! Looking for somone local, and hoping for about $100, for the sewing.

Looks nice. Give me the idea to build something similar too. I don't worry about noise and heat, but I want to protect the engine a bit from splashing salt water.

Thanks Laddie! I need to get it finished before our Lake Shasta Trip in a couple weeks! However, I would like to propose, a 2nd Vintage Jet Boat Rod Trip/ Boating Adventure to Lake Powell. I think Next Summer, if we plan it right. Us NorCal Guys, the NUTTZ from Utah, and maybe some the Central States VJB Members, should Plan a 3 or 4 Day Get Together at Lake Powell!
