So I just replaced the rear end in my wifes Tahoe and it was $1300. I launch and retrieve a lot of boats with that truck off the beach because it can! Never once did I think of making sure the breather in the diff was above water. I am pretty sure that was the main cause for failure. Just something to think about

Great reminder! Now that you mention it I remember seeing trucks with vents being extended with soft tubing to put the breather up high. Add that to my truck project list!

Ya I have a Jeep that does a lot of deep water launches
all the vents have long soft tube routed high up with a plastic valve in the end .

You have to do the front and rear diff , and transfer case .

I like to put a cheep lawn mower gas filter in line to keep dust out .

OK, Front and rear and transfer case? I don't think I ever have gone that deep! :) LOL
