So Steve and I have been talking about this a lot. So it needs to happen! I know I will be itchy in the early spring (new motor and all) and that's when there is water in a little gem called Rye Patch. Its 4hrs from Nor Cal and 4hrs from UT, the nearest town is Winamucka, NV. Its a state park so hookups are available for RVs or hotels/casinos are close by. There are no noise or speed restrictions and the fishing is supposed to be great! I will throw out some dates, April 21- 24 2017. That can change for schedules as need be. Lets make some noise, spring can't come soon enough!!!

I still have a hole in the bottom of my boat to deal with.....and a new trailer that needs some welding/tlc. Too bad I couldnt have taken advantage of the nice weather we have had lately to do some glass work.
Jason ...did you get her running then??

I like the sound of this one Jason! It is close enough to make a long weekend of it.

Its a 10 hour drive for me, but that's only 2 hours more than going down to Lake Shasta. So I will try my best to be there !!

Awesome! Sounds like there is some interest in a good time!! As karma goes a new guy at work is from there and I asked about temps in late April early May. Moderate air temps but water is still to cold for skiing without wetsuits. Since the plan is to work the bugs out and go fast exploring a new spot should be a perfect spring fling!

Welp, my boat is ready! I even hope to get a few test n tune runs before!!!!!! Some people have been asking about exact dates to get off of work. Weekend of April 22-23 was posted but right now is the time to change for everyones schedule. Don't think water levels will be a problem. I think 22-23 or 29-30 should be the choices though so it doesn't interfere with other lake trips for people. This might be the first VJB trip the Murder Tona might miss so Kreg better get busy. Everybody voice an opinion so we can lock this event in. Just google Rye Patch State Park for maps or do like me, live on a hope and a dream

I'm liking the sound of late april still. that gives me a little over 2 months, should be fun. I'm sanding the hull now, for paint, motor plates are all cut, and fitted. pump alignment done. Have collected most the pieces. just need a little, local seat time, for set up. I will be a little under carbed, with a pair of 650's. but I think, camping with the VJB-Nuttz Crew, is just what we need, before full blown boat season arrives. :yesnod:

Just did a little research on Rye Patch...........this might be a lake we want to visit a little later in the season. Average temperatures at the end of April, are typically 60 for the high, and 34 at night. That is a little chilly for us Tent campers. Also, as of the end of January, a bloom of Gold Algae, has killed off, nearly anything with gills, in the lake. They have been collecting the dead fish, drying them on shore, and burning them in bonfires for the past couple of weeks.

Welp, I would gamble on nighttime temps, its been a good Feb, 40's for lows. The fish kill is a different deal. If we cant piss of the fishermen it wouldn't be much fun. Well, IT WOULD, just not the same. Ideas anyone?

Let's keep an eye on water level, maybe we can do it a little later in the season. Unless somehow, they killed the lake. :4_12_2:
