Last month I picked up a new tow rig; 1997 Newmar 38' Mountain Aire with 46k miles. My son and I left on a Wed evening for Houston, got her back to Colorado Springs Friday evening. Was a very long drive back for me (my son drove the Saab home) as there was no stereo, cruise control; nor temp, fuel, oil pressure, or volt gauges. :7_7_2:
The gauges were fixed by simply plugging in the harness to the cluster :41616-4:; although the fuel gauge still doesn't work. Will be replacing the complete fuel pump assy this summer. No stereo was due to it being properly connected to the completely dead house batteries, which were not being charged by the alternator. A $39 contactor for the isolator system fixed that; cruise control just had a blown fuse. :rockwoot:

It'll be a while before I can tow the boat though. The stock EFI 460 is soooo underpowered. Newmars are very well built, and from what I've read, she should tip the scales at a bit over 17,000lbs with no load/fuel. A Banks Power Pack is a must for the short term, but a stroker certainly isn't out of the question down the road.

We spent about a week in Phoenix the end of March to visit family and catch a Spring Training Cubs game. The weather was perfect for cruising around on the Dog too!
We're planning on using her as often as possible, even if it's just a weekend at Lake Pueblo with the boat/jetskis, or 3-4 days farther away with the jetskis.
Even with the minor issues she was a steal at $15k!

My partner at work has dreams of one 4sale up in Idaho. V10triton 2 slide outs. Same price. Of course I told him to jump on it! (He can afford it) Then I can use his. I only get 1/2hr vac per 2500hr worked per year so it should be a cheap rental for Powell.
