I don't know much about the Burbot. I was referring to the crawdad type deals. I thought you guys cooked up some before and I wanted to try it.

We will be interested to see what kind of “can of worms” lies unde the floor. Keep us posted, $500 is a steal if they fix it correctly.

Update: dropped it off at a local mom and pop boat repair shop. They’re gonna cut the floor and repair the fiberglass Inside and out for $500 bucks so we’ll see how it turns out.

What day is it....I have marked off from the 12th to the 17th. Unless life throws me a curve I should be there. I think I finally fixed my fuel pressure issues....knock on wood. I havent been out all year. I have a four day this weekend think I am flaming gorge bound tomorrow. The scenery is pretty great. I am pretty sure there was more money in breast silicone on the beach than my boat is worth:cheers:

Here are a few pictures of the 77 sidewinder. This is a picture of my old boat I had to sell because of the gas price jump when the economy took a hit in 2007

I got the boat on tuesday. I will try and post some pictures up on it. the floor seems mostly solid but under where the seats mount the fiberglass was cracked and the wood was water damaged. So im thinking im going to replace the whole floor but other than that it looks in good shape. I picked it up for 450 with out a motor? Does that seem like a fair price?

You can do any of those, but you'll have to buy mounts and exhaust as well. If you don't mind spending some then do it the way you want. If you're like me (broke) then throw in another 460 and save some coin, maybe..... Lets see some pics of your float I really like the sidewinders. :Chevy_anim:

I recently bought a 1977 sidewinder and it came with a 460 Ford. The engine had some problems and seized up. I would really like to install a chevy motor instead. I would like some feedback on if I were to run a small block vs big block or even an LS motor. The issue is I would like to keep the thru hull exhaust still instead of the headers running above the back of the boat.

Without pics its kinda hard to evaluate the hull, 455 are great torque monster motors but can have some oil drain issues that can be corrected and welcome to the madness! The cover pic on this site is a Cheeta!!!

Been boatless awhile. Decided it's time for another one! I got an opportunity for a good deal on a 1972 Cheetah with a 455, just at 100 hrs. Anyone know anything about Cheetah hulls, or who made them etc?

Transom and stringers seems to be solid but I will take a closer look. It’s only a small block boat but it does make some power. The boat runs flawless and looks good so I would hate to find out it’s a major problem, but at the same time I can’t justify dumping a lot of money into a boat worth $3-4k. I’m gonna stop by a couple repair shops this Friday and see what they say. The guy I bought I from only owned it for a year and seemed to be pretty straight forward so it’s hard to say if I got ripped off or not. Eithier way it’s a 35 year old boat so I don’t think it would be fair to go after him for it.

Just bring it around for a couple estimates maybe, but that's an ouchy one for sure! Do you know who sold you the boat? I really don't advocate going after sellers but that might be borderline negligent if they sold it as sea worthy. If the transom and stringers are rotted out the jet pump PUSHING the boat can really be catastrophic.

Thanks for the quick response....I was hoping it had a little more to it. The lakes are all regulated 35mph around here anyways and 42mph is fine for now and is reliable. I will be looking for a BBC for the future, maybe start buying parts little by little. Thanks Again!!
